The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), with financial support from the Public Health Agency of Canada, has supported student-run
Public Health Interest Groups (PHIGs) to engage in activities that promote public health issues, careers and interprofessional partnerships. This is part of a larger project that AFMC has undertaken since 2006 to enhance
public health in medical education and to help increase the number of medical learners pursuing Community Medicine residency.
To date there are 16 PHIGs at medical faculty campuses across Canada, all of which have access to this web space and eCommunity. To learn more about current events and discussions the students are involved in now, visit the PHIG eCommunity.
